About This Site

One rainy Sunday afternoon back in early 1999, I found myself sitting at my PC with my cousin Paul having a conversation about one of our favourite authors, Shaun Hutson. Wondering if he had a new book coming out, I thought I'd have a quick look on the Internet. A quick look turned into quite a mission, but I only found out one thing - Shaun Hutson had hardly any web presence.

I'd been try to teach myself HTML (the language websites are written in) and I wondered if I had it in me to create one dedicated to Shaun, the type of thing I'd just been searching for. A website with anything and everything someone would possibly want to know about Shaun Hutson. Something people would find genuinely useful.

So, I rather nervously decided to write to Shaun and tell him about my plan. And on the 12th of April 1999, he replied.

"Go to it," he said.

It wasn't until I visited libraries that I realised this wasn't going to be as easy as I thought. The copy of Erebus I picked up at a library had a different cover to the one I owned. If I was going to be thorough I would need to find and scan the covers every edition of Shaun's books. And then I stumbled upon a war book written by a Shaun Hutson. Surely not our Shaun Hutson? I asked him and he confirmed it - he'd written war novels too.

And Westerns. And UFO stories. And more, and not all under his own name.

The research I did to trace the entire history of the books and track down what I could took me a year. I travelled to countless libraries and wrote to many people in my quest to create what I hope is one of the most definitive sites of any author on the Internet - shaunhutson.com.

So I hope that you found this website after wondering if Shaun Hutson had a new book coming out, just like I did, and I hope it answered your question. But if I never, please let me know.
